Mission

The KOPIPOL Association was established by representatives of Polish science and technology at the founding meeting held on 5 June 1995.

Pursuant to the statutes passed, the main role of the Association is to collectively manage copyrights in the scope of reproduction, marketing, storing in computer memory, duplication and dissemination, along with undertaking activities for the development of science and technology and for the protection of financial interest of the right holders active in the field of science and technology.

Copyright management includes:

 

1) providing licences,

2) collecting remuneration,

3) distributing licensing remuneration collected,

4) collecting and distributing fees from the producers and importers of photocopiers, scanners and other similar reprographic devices which allow making copies of all or part of the published work, and blank carriers related thereto (Article 20 of the Copyright and Related Rights Act of 4 February 1994, Dz. U. of 2000 No. 80, item 904 as amended),

5) collecting and distributing fees from keepers of any reprographic devices conducting economic activity within the scope of reproduction of work for the personal use of third parties (Article 20¹ of the Copyright and Related Rights Act of 4 February 1994, Dz. U. of 2000 No. 80, item 904 as amended),

The Association’s articles of association also provide for the possibility of managing the copyright of non-affiliated persons within the scope defined above and within the framework of the authorizations under the Copyright and Related Rights Act of February 4, 1994 (Dz.U. No. 24, item 83), or as the negotiorum gestor.
